Our Story
It started with a different way of thinking.
In 2004, mechanical engineer John Oakes began looking at conventional penis pumps and believed there was a better way to create vacuum pressure.
Drawing on his experience in engineering and hydraulics, he started exploring the idea of surrounding the penis with warm water and creating a hydro-vacuum rather than relying on a conventional air-based system.
Initial concepts became prototypes, and in 2006 the original Bathmate Hercules was launched.
That product would eventually evolve into today's Hydro range, and become the starting point for more than 20 years of Bathmate product development.
20+ years of expertise
Developing and refining hydro pump technology for more than two decades.
1M+ products sold
Bathmate products have been used by more than a million men worldwide.
Hydro pioneers
Bathmate was created around a water-based approach to penis pump technology.
More than 20 years of hydro innovation
From the original Bathmate to today's HydroXtreme range, we've spent more than two decades developing and refining hydro pump technology.

2004
The idea begins
Mechanical engineer John Oakes begins developing the concept behind Bathmate: a penis pump designed specifically to use water to create its vacuum.
What starts as an engineering idea soon develops into the first Bathmate prototypes.

2006
The original Bathmate launches
Hercules
The Bathmate Hercules launches as our first commercially available hydropump.
It establishes the water-based technology at the heart of Bathmate and becomes the foundation for what is now the Hydro range.

2008
Bathmate gets bigger
Goliath
Following the success of Hercules, Bathmate launches the larger Goliath.
Designed for men who needed more capacity, Goliath expands the original Bathmate concept into a broader product range.

2011
The second generation arrives
Hydromax
Bathmate introduces the Hydromax X30, marking the beginning of our second generation of hydropumps.
The new range develops the original concept with a redesigned bellows system, new materials, a revised valve and removable comfort components.

2013
Bathmate pushes the technology further
Xtreme
The next evolution follows with the Xtreme X30 and X40.
Building on the Hydromax platform, the Xtreme range introduces an additional hand-pump system for greater pressure control and becomes Bathmate's most advanced hydropump range.
Today, that range is known as HydroXtreme.

Today
The Bathmate range continues to evolve
More than 20 years after the first Bathmate concept, the principles behind the original Hercules still sit at the heart of our products.
What has changed is everything we've learned along the way - from materials and comfort to sizing, pressure control and product design.
And we continue to develop the range today.

Engineering
Engineering has been part of Bathmate from day one.
Bathmate's Chief Designer, John Edwin Oakes, holds a Higher National Certificate in Mechanical Engineering and has more than 35 years of experience across automated engineering and manufacturing.
That background influenced everything from Bathmate's original concept to the design of individual components and manufacturing processes.
Bathmate products are manufactured by skilled teams using processes that combine hands-on production with precision technology, including injection moulding systems used to produce complex components.
It's an engineering-led approach we've carried forward from the first prototype to today's products.
Bought it nine years ago and this is and always will be the best of the best pumps you could use. The results I got from this are better than any other pump I've used. My ex wife legitimately and I'm being dead serious with this legitimately her mouth started watering so much, she was drooling and at a loss for words when she saw the sheer girth. She could not keep her hands off of me. Not that I would complain, but if you've got the coin try it because it is useful and the work put in stays to a testament to what it is.
